The Dallas Cowboys have themselves a quarterback conundrum and one high ranking executive likens it to the rival Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles drafted Carson Wentz and then signed Nick Foles as an insurance policy that ultimately cashed in during the 2017 playoff run that ended with a Super Bowl.
The Eagles are now retooling the backup role behind Wentz, placing extreme value in the position with the selection of Jalen Hurts.
Stephen Jones, the Cowboys executive vice president and son of Jerry Jones, likened his teams’ addition of Andy Dalton behind Dak Prescott to the Eagles scenario with Foles and Wentz.
Speaking on 1310 The Ticket in Dallas, Cowboys executive VP Stephen Jones likened the addition of Andy Dalton to an NFC East rival. “To have a guy like Andy Dalton come in here – not unlike what Philly had with Nick Foles when Carson Wentz went down – to be able to take control and win games, win huge games for you if that’s what you need is really important,” Jones said. “Certainly you can lay your head on the pillow better at night knowing you have someone like Andy Dalton.”
Jones definitely gets an A+ for how he worded the scenario, steering away from any discussion of Dalton’s presence being used as pressure to get Dak Prescott to cave on signing a new deal.
