Cowboys cornerback Nolan Carroll charged with DWI

DALLAS _ Dallas Cowboys cornerback Nolan Carroll was arrested early Monday in the Uptown section of Dallas on a DWI charge.

A Dallas police officer pulled Carroll over about 2:15 a.m. for a traffic violation in the 2200 block of McKinney Avenue, near North Pearl Street, police said.

He was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Police did not say what traffic violation he was stopped for.

Carroll, 30, was booked into the Dallas County Jail about 7:50 a.m. and posted bond at 2:45 p.m., jail spokeswoman Melinda Urbina said.

Sidebar, an Uptown club near where Carroll was arrested, was having what was promoted as a "Welcome to Dallas Celebration" for him Sunday night. Police did not say where Carroll had been before he was stopped.

A Cowboys official said, "We are aware of the situation and are gathering information at this time."

The team offers free Uber rides to players who think they may not be able to drive safely.

The Cowboys signed a three-year, $10 million deal with Carroll, a free agent, in March. He has been working with the first team defense in organized team activities this offseason.

Carroll is entering his eighth NFL season. He spent his previous three seasons with division rival Philadelphia and also played with the Miami Dolphins.
