Cowboys' Bryant raves about Romo's progress

FRISCO, Texas _ Tony Romo's workload continues to increase. The Cowboys quarterback returned to practice on Thursday. It was the first time he has participated in team drills since injuring his back in Seattle on Aug. 25. Romo also took part in individual and 7-on-7 work.

Romo did some individual work last Wednesday. He increased his workload to include 7-on-7 drills last Thursday. But he had not practiced since.

Romo's work in team and 7-on-7 has been in scout-team situations.

"He was good," wide receiver Dez Bryant said. "(His passes) looked like a little missile. He was drilling it. He's looking damn good."

Bryant said he and Romo haven't done much one-on-one throwing off to the side but he doesn't think they'll need much time to get back on the same page.

"I'm pretty sure he's just trying to ease himself in, get his mind right and all that stuff," Bryant said. "He's been working. I'll give him that. He lost some weight. I thought I saw a couple of abs on him."

Tight end Jason Witten said he thought Romo "looked sharp" during Thursday's practice.

"I know it has not been an easy road for him to take that next step and do work on the field, much like last week," Witten said. "It's good energy he brings. For all of us, I think there's a respect you have for a guy we saw laying on the field in Seattle and now see, a couple of months later, he's back in there and working his rehab. It's good to have him out there and for this team just to continue to move forward."
