Cowardly driver left injured woman behind after car crash in Paisley

Police are hunting a danger driver who ploughed a car into a fence then ran off leaving an injured passenger behind.

The cowardly motorist legged it after smashing his VW Golf into a metal barrier at Stanley Road, Paisley, at around 9.20am this morning.

Cops revealed the man made off despite his female pal needing urgent medical help.

She was rushed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, where she remains receiving treatment.

A major manhunt is now underway for the selfish motorist and cops probing the incident have appealed for help in tracing him.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of a one vehicle crash on Stanley Road, Paisley around 9.20am on Saturday 27 February.

“The driver ran off from the scene and enquiries are ongoing to trace him.

“The passenger was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley, where she is being treated for her injuries.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage from the Stanley Road area around that time is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 1092 of 27 February 2021.”

Stanely Road at Corsebar Drive was closed for several hours while specialist roads policing investigators pieced together the exact circumstances of what happened.

There were also reports that a Police Scotland helicopter was deployed to the area to join the search for the out-of-control driver.
