Cow & Gate baby food product recalled 'as it could contain small pieces of rubber'

Cow & Gate has recalled one of its products over fears it "could contain small pieces of blue rubber".

It is asking any parents who have bought the Cheesy Broccoli Bake Stage 3 (10+ months) to take it back.

The Food Standards Agency says that no other Cow & Gate products are known to be affected.

The Agency said: "Cow & Gate is recalling the above product. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product

"These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product."

The jars were on sale at almost every major supermarket, including Asda, Sainsbury's, Morrisons and Tesco, as well as Boots.
Only one batch of the baby food was affected.

Salmonella and E.Coli risks prompt urgent product recalls by Tesco, Asda and others

Their advice to customers is: "If you have bought the above product do not feed it to your baby. Instead, return it to the store where it was bought, with or without a receipt, for a full refund."

A statement from Cow & Gate said: "We are sorry that these jars do not meet our usual high quality standards and for any inconvenience this recall may cause.

"These jars do not pose a health risk, but we are recalling them as they do not meet our usual high quality standards."
