Cow brings M8 traffic to standstill as rogue animal wanders onto motorway at Harthill

A cow has brought M8 traffic to a standstill this afternoon with the rogue animal having wandered onto the motorway at Harthil.

Police are currently holding back traffic on the eastbound section of road while the cow is moved to safety.

It appears the animal has managed to break free from a farm and make its way onto the hard shoulder.

Traffic Scotland Tweeted: " #M8 Hazard.

"Police are holding traffic E/B at Harthill due to a cow that has managed to find itself at the hard shoulder.
