Covidiots 'from Glasgow' trash Loch Morlich beauty spot with human waste and litter as beauty spot left scorched from campfires

Firefighters were called to an Aviemore beauty spot after wild campers left a horrific lochside mess.

As well as small fires, the yobs left tents, chairs, piles of bottles and cans and even a double airbed, floating in Loch Morlich.

More worrying were the piles of human waste found dotted around the picturesque site in the Cairngorms National Park.

Locals have now demanded the authorities do something about the shocking behaviour that has blighted some of Scotland’s most beautiful spots in recent months.

As well as leaving litter, residents claimed the group, believed to be from Glasgow, also broke strict Covid lockdown rules.

One local spoke to the Daily record.

She told us: “It is heartbreaking to see the destruction and blatant disregard for the beautiful place we live just to be able to get drunk and have a party.

“Also with COVID it is putting those having to clear up afterwards at risk especially from the human waste that was also left behind.

“It was reported to the Kingussie fire crew at the site that they (the campers) were from Glasgow and had driven off first thing, the police were also notified.”

Other locals took to the Aviemore & Spey Valley Community Issues Facebook page to slam the behaviour of the selfish louts.

One wrote: “Absolutely disgusting!! Why do some people behave this way.”

Another said: “Lost for words, what is wrong with some people.”

While a third commented: “Absolutely disgusting vermin with no regard to the stunning countryside around them...they just want to get pi**ed on the cheap and leave others to clean up the debris....they are no better than the trash they have left behind.”

A spokesman for Scottish Fire and Rescue confirmed one engine was sent to the site from Kingussie. The arrived on site just after 10am on Sunday and left after half an hour having extinguished the fires.

The mess isn’t just confined to the Cairngorms.

Earlier this month The Daily Record told how lochs and beauty spots in Perthshire have also been blighted.

And the local council has already begun to introduce measures to prevent it happening again next year.
