Covidiot Margaret Ferrier hailed as 'one of the best and brightest MPs' in the House of Commons

Covidiot politician Margaret Ferrier has been hailed as "one of the best and brightest MPs" in Westminster by a top lawyer.

The bizarre comment was made today by Geoffrey Robertson QC - a leading human rights campaigner - when asked about the possibility of increasing fines for people caught flouting lockdown rules.

The Metropolitan Police are investigating Ferrier after she travelled from London to Glasgow after testing positive for covid-19.

The shamed MP could face a £4,000 fine for a first-time offence of coming into contact with others when she should have been self-isolating.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain today, Robertson said: "I have every interest in stopping these covidiots and I want them punished, but I want them punished properly.

"Margaret Ferrier actually happens to be one of the best, brightest MPs in the house."

But presenter Piers Morgan fired back: "If she's the brightest, how dumb are the dumbest?"

Ferrier has been widely condemned after it was revealed last week she had travelled by train to London to speak at Westminster despite having been tested for Coronavirus.

She then decided to travel back to Glasgow via rail after receiving a positive result for Covid.

The Record revealed yesterday the MP for Rutherglen and Hamilton West had also spoken at her local chapel in Glasgow the day after she was first tested for the virus.

But Ferrier today found an unlikely backer in the form of Robertson, a legal heavyweight who has represented a string of well-known clients including Mike Tyson and Julian Assange.

It comes as George Galloway  has said he is ready to contest a by-election in Rutherglen and Hamilton West if disgraced MP  Margaret Ferrier  resigns.

The former Labour firebrand wants Unionist parties to back a single candidate so they stand a better chance of defeating the SNP at any future vote.
