Covid winter grant scheme for Nottingham - how to apply and what you will need

Residents in Nottingham may be eligible for some financial support through a grant scheme.

People living in the city in receipt of council tax support, with or without children, can apply.

A spokesperson for Nottingham City Council said: "With rising food costs, we hope this extra support will ease the strain on some families to help them through these difficult times."

Currently there are 10,000 vouchers available as part of this scheme and selected applicants will be chosen on a first-come-first-served basis.

The scheme ensures successful applicants are issued with a £50 supermarket e-voucher to help with food and essential supplies.

As of February 2, residents that are currently in receipt of the following benefits are not eligible for this grant:

  • Means Tested Free School Meals
  • Support Grant from HMRC/Local Authority
  • Self-Isolation Payment.

How to apply

To apply for the grant, you will need to fill in the application form on the city council's website, which you can find here.

To complete the form you will need:

  • Email address (as e-vouchers will be sent via email)
  • Full address
  • Your Council Tax Reference Number

Once you have completed the form and received a voucher code, you will need to redeem the voucher through the same area of the council website.

The Government's £170 million Covid Winter Grant Scheme, was made available in early December 2020 and covers the period until the end of March 2021.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will provide the grant scheme funding to county councils and unitary authorities who will administer the scheme and provide direct assistance to support families with children, other vulnerable households and individuals.

The grant will be used to support those most in need across England with the cost of food, energy and water bills and other associated costs.
