Covid vaccine scam alert as 'NHS' message asks for bank details

Police have issued a warning over a fake 'NHS' text tricking people into thinking they're eligible for a covid vaccine, before requesting their bank details.

Messages have been sent out urging people to sign up for the vaccine at 'uk-application-form.com', telling Brits 'NHS: We have identified that you are eligible to apply for your vaccine.'

Police forces are warning recipients not to click on the link which 'takes you through to an extremely convincing fake NHS website that asks you for personal details'.

They are urging people never to give out their personal details and say: "Please be alert around scam text messages/cold calls telling you that you are eligible for a Covid vaccine, do not provide your payment details or any personal details in links attached.

"When your GP contacts you about the vaccine, they will not ask for payment!".

Thousands of Scots have already received the vaccine, with Nicola Sturgeon saying yesterday she hopes the country's rollout programme will be accelerated, if supplies of the jab are in place to do so.
