Covid vaccine protesters cause massive delays with demo at West Lothian jab site

A group of anti-vaccine protestors caused lengthy delays on the M8 at West Lothian after staging a demonstration near a jab centre.

The group, who are against the mass rollout of the Covid-19 jag for children aged 12 and up, gathered near the Bathgate on Wednesday morning.

Passing traffic slowed down as they passed the Pyramids Business Park near Bathgate at around 9am.

Traffic Scotland warned motorists to expect delays of around 15 minutes during the morning rush hour.

They tweeted: “M8 congestion. Slow traffic on the M8 eastbound J5 to J3A due to a demonstration at Bathgate. Delays approx 15 minutes.”

The delays are understood to have cleared around 45 minutes later.

A drop-in vaccination clinic for anyone over the age of 12 opened at the business park on Monday, September 20.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a demonstration by the M8 near the Pyramids Business Park by Bathgate around 7.50am on Wednesday, 22 September.

“Officers attended and engaged with the group who dispersed shortly after 9am.”
