INDORE: Even though almost all kids aged 15-17 have become eligible for the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine, the drive pace in the district remained slow in the last one week, shows record.
In the last one week, around 45,000 kids aged 15-17 have walked up to the vaccination sites to take their second dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
According to records, when the drive was launched for this age group on January 3 this year, around 1.49 lakh kids had taken their first dose within four days in the district.
Interestingly, all these kids are now eligible for their second dose but turnout at vaccination centres are very low.
CMHO Dr BS Saitya said, “The grassroot workers of health department are asked to visit door-to-door to inoculate all the kids either remaining for the first dose or eligible for second dose.”
“The schools are also being called upon to help in administering second dose to the kids”, added Dr Saitya.
The district reported a total of 1.95 lakh dose inoculation in kids aged 15-17 including those who got their second dose till date against a targeted 1.96 lakh kids enrolled in over 900 schools.
The situation in case of the precaution dose is similar in the district.
After around a month of allowing precaution dose to health care workers, frontline workers and all aged above 60 years after nine months of their second dose, only 79,240 had taken their doses.
There were 96,000 eligible persons for precaution dose in the district till January 31 but despite all strictness like stopping salaries, the district is still to cover the gap in eligible beneficiaries and doses administered.
The health authorities are now forced to call eligible beneficiaries for taking their precaution doses. A health official involved in vaccination said, “Now, we are calling the eligible beneficiaries to take their precaution doses at the earliest.”
The district has so far inoculated 64.46 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccine including 30.16 being fully immunised with two doses. The district had witnessed inoculation of 33.50 lakh first dose against a target of 30.84 people aged above 15 years in the district.
