Covid update from Scottish hospitals as patient numbers break 1,000 barrier

A further 20,217 cases of coronavirus have been reported in Scotland – including 1,452 in Ayrshire and Arran,

Latest figures published by the Scottish Goverment show there are 1,031 Covid patients in Scottish hospitals which is up 172 from Friday.

That's the highest figure since October 4 last year.

There are currently 38 people with the disease being treated in ICUs.

Meanwhile, there are 103 Covid patients in Ayrshire hospitals — up eight since Friday. It's the highest figure since November 1 when 114 Covid patients were in hospitals in the region.

Fewer than five people are being treated for the illness in the region's intensive care units.

A total of 4,383,212 people have received one dose of a Covid vaccine; 4,017,051 are double jabbed and 2,992,583 people have received a third dose/booster.
