Couple raffle their £230,000 house and BMW for just £2.50 after surviving Covid

A couple who survived coronavirus are putting their house and BMW up for raffle - and they could be yours for £2.50.

Jeanette Crompton and Darren Southard are hoping to start a new life running a B&B in Spain after battling Covid-19 gave them a new perspective on life.

The couple hope to raise around £400,000 from the raffle, which will see their three-bedroom detached house in Kirton Lindsey, North Lincolnshire and BMW Z4 Roadster sold, reports Grimsby Live.

The house is valued at around £230,000, and the BMW around £30,000.

Tickets to enter the raffle are just £2.50.

Jeanette, 52, said: “Darren and I both came down with coronavirus last year, which made us ask if we ultimately wanted to keep working nine to five for the rest of our lives.

"We had both worked in Spain previously at different times, and running a B&B was a long-held dream of ours.

“We’d seen other people raffle their houses and have even entered a few ourselves, so we thought why not give it a go?

“We’ve got nothing to lose – we could get our dream and someone could win a mortgage-free house and a BMW!”

The house comes with a large garden and patio area, a built-in garage which can accommodate four cars, and a conservatory with central heating.

It has three bedrooms, two of which are doubles with built-in wardrobes, and a modern bathroom.

The contest is being run through Raffle. 160,000 tickets are available, with the closing date of May 3.

If not all tickets are sold by that date, the couple will keep the house and car, and the winner will instead receive 75 per cent of the total ticket sales.

Five per cent of the money raised will go Mayflower Animal Sanctuary in Bawtry, where the couple have adopted two of their dogs through.

Jeanette and Darren, who have been together for seven years, hope that the raffle will allow them to change careers from their current jobs at Sainsbury's and BMW.

Jeanette said: “There’s been a lot of interest so far - we know how exciting it is to be in house raffles.

"Some people have been buying dozens of tickets, but even if you have one then you’re in with a chance of winning.

“We’re hoping that by May, we could be ready to start our new life in Spain.”

You can enter the raffle now to be in with a chance of winning.
