A Covid-19 survivor whose experience of contracting coronavirus left him at "death's door" said he no longer likes beer.
Neil, from Warwickshire, started experiencing symptoms of Covid just before Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the first national lockdown.
He told BBC 5 Live that the condition struck him so severely that he needed to be put on a ventilator at Alexandra Hospital in Redditch.
The 54-year-old said he can now no longer enjoy a pint because his taste buds are not what they used to be anymore, Birmingham Live reports.
When asked by host Nicky Campbell whether he was able to enjoy a beer in the garden after his stay in hospital, Neil said: “I actually don’t like beer anymore bizarrely.

“My taste buds have changed so I don’t like all the beers I used to like before I had Covid.”
Several others have reported suffering from post-Covid parosmia, a condition where tastes and smells are distorted.
In one case, a sufferer said they could smell fish in place of any other scent while another could smell burning despite no smoke around.
Neil recollected how his experience of Covid - which left him on "death's door" - all began with him self-isolating because of a cough.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced soon after that the whole country would be shutting down due to staggering spike in Covid cases, and a week later Neil was on "blues and twos" being rushed to hospital.
“This is when things to start a little bit hairy to say the least," he said.
“I think I’m only in hospital for 12 hours but two days later I’m put on a ventilator.
“It’s one of the most life-changing experiences I’ve ever had.
“You don’t know what’s going on, you have no sense of anything that’s going on with your body.
“I feel sorry for my family and friends. I’m oblivious to everything and my poor brother had to phone up everyday to see how his little brother is and I’m on death’s door.
“It wasn’t until the end of May I could see my brother and thank him for everything he had done for me.”
