Covid Scotland: The three reasons you can go indoors at someone else's house

As the sun continues to shine over Scotland, many of us will be heading out to visit people in their gardens under Scotland's lockdown rules.

According to Scotland's coronavirus restrictions, up to four people from two households are allowed to meet outdoors, including in private gardens.

But as you pop round to a pal's for a cup of tea, you might be wondering 'can I go indoors?'.

Under the rules, Scots can go into other people's homes but only for a short period of time to use the toilet or to access the garden.

Mingling indoors will still be banned and social distancing must continue to be observed.

You can also go indoors to provide care and support – for example caring for an elderly family member or delivering shopping.

Scotland's 'Stay at Home' regulations will be lifted on April 2 and replaced with guidance to 'Stay Local', with more services including hairdressers, garden centres and non-essential click and collect services able to open from April 5.

On May 17, it is hoped that groups of four people from two households would be able to socialise indoors in a private home.
