Covid Scotland: Six more deaths registered as a further 543 test positive

A further six people have died after testing positive for coronavirus in Scotland bringing the country's death toll to 7,578.

543 new cases of the virus have been confirmed since yesterday, representing 2.4% of those tested.

Of the new cases, 169 were in Greater Glasgow and Clyde with a further 109 in Lanarkshire.

The number of people currently receiving treatment in the hospital has fallen by 14 to 296. The number of patients receiving intensive care has decreased by six to 26.

So far, 2,322,832 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 279,814 have received their second dose - around 42% of the adult population.

Nicola Sturgeon is no longer giving daily briefings but continues to share coronavirus updates on her social media.

Speaking on today's figures the First Minister urged the public to 'continue to follow all the vital public health advice'.
