Nicola Sturgeon has announced 830 new Covid cases had been recorded and praised Scots for the uptake rates of the vaccine.

The First Minister said the new cases account for four per cent of all the tests carried out and that the total number of cases now stands at 189,175.

There are also currently 1,499 people in hospital with the virus, which is 43 fewer than yesterday, and 109 of those people are in intensive care, which is four fewer than yesterday.

A further 48 deaths were registered from Covid in Scotland over the last 24 hours.

The First Minister also praised the "heroic" efforts of those who made it to vaccine centres on Wednesday, despite the bad weather, as she celebrated vaccine uptake rates.
