Covid Scotland: Popular Edinburgh cafe closes after staff test positive

Edinburgh cafe Honeycomb & Co has temporarily closed its doors after two staff tested positive for coronavirus.

The cafe, located on Merchiston Place in Edinburgh, stated on its Instagram that 'two of our staff have tested positive for Covid-19 - neither is in a customer-facing role and neither was displaying symptoms.'

A post read: "The cases are not linked and we have been informed that transmission occurred elsewhere, but as a precaution, we have taken the decision to close Honeycomb & Co for a short time."

None of the other staff at the establishment have returned positive tests, as part of the cafes health and safety policy is to test workers twice weekly for the virus.

The cafe will contact all reservations for today in order to cancel and refund customers, and any bookings from now until Tuesday, June 29 will be automatically cancelled.

This news follows the announcements that Covid cases are continuing to surge in the capital, as the 7 day positivity rate spikes well above the threshold for Level Four restrictions in Edinburgh.
