Covid Scotland: Green list extend with Ibiza, Malta, Majorca along with 13 other destinations

Ibiza holidays are back on for Scots as the Balearic Island and Malta, along with others have been added to the green list.

This means holidaymakers won't need to quarantine when returning back on Scottish soil.

The Scottish Government have confirmed that that there have been a total number of 16 extra countries added to the Green list, including Ibiza, Malta, Barbados and the Caribbean.

This will come into affect on 4am June 30.

However each destination can have their own rules for visitors regarding isolating and PCR tests on arrival.

When leaving Scotland to visit one of the countries, Scots do need to take a PCR test and complete a passenger locator form.

There have been no changes to the requirements when travelling from Green, Amber or Red listed countries and travellers will still have to isolate for 10 days when returning from an Amber listed country even if they have received double doses of the coronavirus vaccination.

The Scottish Government has said it is "cautiously" considering the evidence for easing amber listed restrictions but no decision is expected immediately.

As more countries have been added to the green list, Dominican Republic, Eritrea, Haiti, Mongolia, Tunisia, Uganda have been added to the red list.

Cabinet Secretary for Net Zero, Energy and Transport Michael Matheson said:

“From the outset we have said caution is required regarding international travel and people should think very carefully about travelling abroad as situations can suddenly change.

“We continue to work closely with the other home nations and are cautiously supportive of exploring options for the easing of restrictions for fully vaccinated travellers arriving from countries on the amber list - but only if the clinical advice supports it and if systems are in place to ensure the wider safety of the Scottish population.”

Nicola Sturgeon has continued to emphasise that the Scottish Government's advice regarding international travel is only go if it is essential and has asked Scots to "think very carefully" if their trip away is necessary.
