Covid Scotland: Full green list of countries as UK Government reviews travel rules

Every three weeks Ministers at Westminster review the international rules for England as the pandemic continues around the globe.

Scotland has followed in England's footsteps regarding the traffic light system and so far, have included the same countries on their green, amber and red list, as well as adopting the rule of isolation free returns for the double jagged. It can be assumed Scotland will also add the same countries to their green list.

These rules will comes into effect from 4am on Sunday August 8.

Travel Secretary Grant Schapps announced on Twitter last night that the green list will be extended.

He announced that seven extra countries will be added to the quarantine free list.

Those arriving from green labeled countries means that they do not have to isolate. However, they still need to prove a negative PCR test before departure from the destination and take another PCR test on day two on their return.

These rules also apply to those double jagged who arrive from amber listed countries.

It was also announced that France will be moved down from the 'amber plus' list and back onto amber.

Spain's status was under speculation due to concerning covid cases in the country but it has remained on the amber list.

India, Bahrain, Qatar and the UAE will be moving off the red list and onto the amber.

However Georgia, Mexico, La Reunion and Mayotte are being downgraded from amber to red from 4am on Sunday.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said: "We are committed to opening up international travel safely, taking advantage of the gains we've made through our successful vaccination programme, helping connect families, friends and businesses around the world."

Travellers are reminded that each country can enforce their own rules and the traffic light system determines the rules when returning to the UK.

It is important to check the FCDO website and official government websites of the country of choice to check entry requirements and rules.
