Covid Scotland: Edinburgh residents in long queues and delays at vaccine centre

Local residents in Edinburgh have reported huge queues at the Ingliston Vaccination Centre this week.

One image showed residents in line for their Covid-19 vaccine with some were less than impressed at having to wait around.

Speaking to Edinburgh Live on local resident commented: "I heard stories of the process being really efficient but the queues were ridiculous.

"There was a lot of elderly people just left waiting around, and people were getting up to give them a seat so they weren't left standing there."

Edinburgh Live understands that some of the delays are because of the complex nature of events at the moment.

Programmes are being run simultaneously for 12-15 year-olds and 16-17 year-olds, as well as the third doses for some demographics and booster jags for the vulnerable.

A spokesperson for the Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership said: “It’s really positive that so many people are turning out to get their vaccinations, helping to protect themselves and one another from the Covid-19 virus. This is a complex vaccination programme and we’re offering appointments as well as drop-in sessions.

“We would urge anyone with an appointment to stick to the allotted time to minimise queueing. We’ll also soon be extending vaccination centre opening hours to minimise queues.”
