Covid Scotland: Edinburgh records less than 100 new cases for second day in a row

Scotland has reported a further 1,049 cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

The official daily figures for today were published at 2pm this afternoon, ahead of John Swinney's update.

The case number represents nine per cent of those newly tested for the virus on Monday.

This number is slightly higher than yesterday, but is a significant decrease from previous weeks.

Out of Tuesday's new cases, 92 were in the NHS Lothian health board, making it the second day the area has recorded less than 100 cases.

347 were in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, and a further 196 in Lanarkshire.

Yesterday, the First Minister said there was some "grounds for optimism" as hospital figures appear to stabilise.
