A popular city centre theatre has been forced to put off its January shows which were meant to kick start the venue's new season amid new Covid rules.
Managers at Edinburgh Playhouse took to Facebook to break the sad news, stating: "Following the Scottish Government announcement on Tuesday, December 21, in which it was confirmed that indoor seated events would be limited to 200, we are sorry to announce that the following performances scheduled to play at the Edinburgh Playhouse have been postponed."

The theatre has previously cancelled its hit show White Christmas just minutes before it was supposed to start, leaving visitors to stand outside the theatre at the top of Leith Walk for 40 minutes before it was confirmed the show was cancelled.
The news comes after Nicola Sturgeon has announced a new set of restrictions in a bid to slow the spread of the new Omicron variant that has been confirmed to be the dominant variant in Scotland. The new regulations were introduced on Tuesday, December 21 and will come into force on Boxing Day, December 26.
Earlier this month, the First Minister urged Scots to stay home as much as possible and limit their social contacts. The news hit the nation hard, with many restaurants closing due to cancelled bookings and Christmas events being revoked.
