Covid Scotland: Edinburgh holds drop-in vaccinations for 18 to 39 year-olds this week

NHS Lothian have announced they will be holding a drop-in vaccination clinic for 18 to 39 year-olds.

As the push continues to speed up the coronavirus vaccine roll-out, the health board have confirmed those in the age bracket can attend for either their first or second dose.

Taking place on Tuesday (June 29), the clinic will run on a drop-in basis, meaning locals can attend at any time and do not need to have an appointment.

Running from 8.30am-5.30pm, the drop-in will be located at the at the RBS Younger Building.

NHS Lothian have advised that their other over 40s drop-in clinics will also be running as normal.

In a post, the health board said:

"We are opening a drop-in vaccination clinic for people aged 18-39. The new clinic opens tomorrow at 8.30am – 5.30pm at the RBS Younger Building.

"You don’t need to be registered with a GP to get your vaccine at a drop-in clinic. You can get your 1st dose, or your 2nd dose if it’s been more than 8 weeks since your first. Meanwhile our over 40 clinics are still running as normal."

It comes as cases in Edinburgh and the Lothians have sharply increased in recent weeks, with 830 cases being recorded on Tuesday alone.

Last week, the First Minister confirmed that Scotland would pause its roadmap out of lockdown for three weeks, with the move to level zero now set for July 19.

Speaking at the Scottish Parliament, Nicola Sturgeon explained that the pause was to allow for the vaccination roll-out to catch up with the fast-spreading Delta variant, which now makes up the majority of all Scottish Covid cases.
