A number of coronavirus restrictions are set to ease in Scotland after Nicola Sturgeon announced the pandemic is taking a “much more positive course.”
Speaking at Holyrood on Tuesday, the First Minister explained that some measures introduced to curb the spread of omicron would be reversed from January 24.

Previously, the restrictions surrounding outdoor events had been removed, allowing fans to return to sporting matches and stadiums.
However, from next Monday a host of other measures will be lifted, with entertainment and hospitality industries to operate fully once again.
Although still asking the public to "remain cautious" when interacting with others, here are five things you will be able to do next week without breaking the rules.
Go to a nightclub
Shortly after Christmas, new restrictions to stop the omicron spread meant that nightclubs were forced to close by the Scottish Government.
Due to rules around table service and social distancing, some venues chose to reopen for Hogmanay as a bar, however there were no big crowds to bring in the bells.
Following the announcement, clubs will be allowed to reopen as normal, with dancing and no restrictions on social distancing.
Go to see a show at the theatre

Unfortunately, the rules also saw a capacity limit put on numbers for indoor events, with only 100 allowed in as long as they were socially distanced by a metre.
Unable to fill their auditoriums, most theatre and performance venues closed over the festive period, with sites such as The Playhouse and the King's Theatre cancelling sold out shows.
However, from Monday musicals, plays and more will be given the green light again.
Stand at the bar in a pub

Although not required to close during tougher restrictions, the Scottish Government had introduced rules around social distancing and table service.
This meant bars, pubs and restaurants could only have customers seated at tables, and were not allowed to interact with each other.
Standing at a bar for a drink was not an option, with tables also having to be apart from each other by one metre.
From Monday, this rule will be lifted, meaning you can sit or stand at your local with a pint.
Go to a concert

Much like with theatre, large concert and music venues were also forced to close to curb the spread of the new variant.
Met with the same rules around indoor numbers and social distancing, there was no chance or being squished in a crowd while listening to your favourite band play.
However, from next week venues will start running gigs again, so have your tickets at the ready.
Meet up with more than three households
From January 24, the rule around mixing with no more than three households at any one time will also be scrapped, meaning you can see as many people as you want in one go.
Designed to see the virus mixed between as little households as possible, the rule will not apply in any venue or setting.
