Covid Scotland: 6,029 new confirmed cases and seven deaths reported in 24 hours

Scotland has recorded seven deaths of coronavirus patients and 6,029 cases in the past 24 hours, according to the latest data.

Figures published by the Scottish Government indicate the death toll under the daily measure - of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days - is now 8,118.

The daily test positivity rate is 14.9%, up from 14.1% the previous day.

A total of 585 people were in hospital on Monday with recently confirmed Covid-19, up by 34 on the previous day, with 54 patients in intensive care, up two.

So far, 4,106,408 people have received the first dose of a Covid-19 vaccination and 3,680,761 have had their second.

The latest figures come after we reported earlier today how the Greater Glasgow and Clyde health board area has the second highest covid rate in Europe, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Lanarkshire has been named the hotspot with the highest infection rate per 100,000 at 853, according to the latest figures published yesterday.
