Covid Scotland: 50 further deaths marks Scotland's highest daily total in seven months

50 coronavirus deaths and 3,667 cases have been recorded in Scotland in the past 24 hours, the latest figures show.

This is the highest recording of deaths since February 2021, and in the last seven months.

It means the death toll under this daily measure - of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days - stands at 8,514.

116 people have died in Scotland in the last seven days since 28 days of their first positive test.

The daily test positivity rate is 8.5%, up from 8% the previous day.

A total of 1,011 people were in hospital with recently confirmed Covid-19, down 46, with 79 patients in intensive care, down seven.

So far, 4,168,278 people have received the first dose of a Covid-19 vaccination and 3,820,182 have received their second dose.
