SHILLONG: The Covid-19 positivity rate in East Khasi Hills district, which includes Meghalaya capital Shillong, continues to be above 10% with very high number of daily cases. The Centre has advised 10 states, including Meghalaya to ensure proper implementation of containment measures in the affected areas.
The East Khasi Hills district magistrate, Isawanda Laloo said in order to safeguard the district from an uncontrollable surge in Covid-19 cases, containment measures would continue to be in place till further orders. Night curfew will continue to be in force from 7pm to 5am daily.
Meanwhile, 11 deaths due to Covid-19 increased the fatality figure to 1096 and 589 new cases of infection added up to 6043 active cases, while 501 more recoveries surged the number of recovered cases to 59450 on Sunday in the state, which has registered 65589 confirmed cases so far.
