Covid on rise in Ayrshire again as just 61 towns and villages have 'suppressed' cases

Coronavirus cases are on the rise in Ayrshire again, new data has revealed today.

More towns and villages across the region are recording more positive COVID-19 tests than at the start of May.

Two weeks ago, cases were suppressed to the extent that 84 of 92 Ayrshire areas had low prevalence of the virus.

But today it can be revealed that just 61 intermediate zones have suppressed coronavirus.

Annbank, Mossblown and Tarbolton – the coalfields (360.3) is the Covid capital of Ayrshire with 360.3 cases in the past seven days per 100,000 population.

Ayrshire as a whole reported 35 new cases in the past 24 hours with 17,544 positive tests being detected since the pandemic began.

The number of people in NHS Ayrshire & Arran hospitals is 11 — the highest it's been since mid April. ICU numbers remain below five.

There have been no new deaths recorded across Scotland overnight.

There have been 526 new cases have been recorded with the nation's total now at 235,421.

But cases are so low in a number of Ayrshire areas they've been classes as 'suppressed' to protect patient confidentiality.

East Ayrshire

In East Ayrshire, 22 of the 30 areas are suppressed.

Suppressed: Stewarton West; Stewarton East; Shortlees; Newmilns; New Cumnock; Kilmaurs; ; Galston; Drongan; Darvel; Bonnyton and Town Centre; Cumnock and Craigens; Bellfield and Kirkstyle; Doon Valley South; Cumnock North; Mauchline; Piersland; Auchinleck; Earlston and Hurlford Rural; Grange, Howard and Gargieston; Mauchline Rural; Altonhill North and Onthank; Northern and Irvine Valley Rural.

Not suppressed: Dean and New Farm Loch North (218.3); Doon Valley North (168.5); New Farm Loch South (107.4); Kilmarnock South Central and Caprington (107.1); Crosshouse, Gatehead and Kilmaurs Rural (86.6); Southcraig and Beansburn (85.8); Cumnock Rural (85.8); Altonhill South, Longpark and Hillhead (63.0).

North Ayrshire

In North Ayrshire 23 of 37 areas are suppressed.

Suppressed: Stevenston Ardeer; Saltcoats North West; Largs South; Largs North; Irvine Fullarton; Irvine Broomlands; Arran; Ardrossan North West; and Stevenston North West; Beith West; Largs Central and Cumbrae; Skelmorlie and Rural; Ardrossan Central; Kilwinning Central and North; Dreghorn; Dalry West; Irvine Tarryholme; Irvine Bourtreehill; Irvine Castlepark South; Kilbirnie South and Longbar; Beith East and Rural; Kilwinning West and Blacklands; Kilbirnie North; Fairlie and Rural; Dalry East and Rural.

Not Supressed: Irvine East (225.8); Irvine Girdle Toll and Stanecastle (213.5); Springside and Rural (142.7); Kilwinning Pennyburn (135.4); Irvine Perceton and Lawthorn (103.3); Kilwinning Whitehirst Park and Woodside; Irvine Central; Ardrossan North East; West Kilbride and Seamill; Irvine Castlepark North; Saltcoats Central; Saltcoats North East; Stevenston Hayocks.

South Ayrshire

In South Ayrshire 16 of 25 areas are suppressed.

Suppressed: Prestwick Airport and Monkton; Maybole; Holmston and Forehill; Girvan Glendoune; Girvan Ailsa; ; Barassie; Dundonald, Loans and Symington; Prestwick West; Maybole; Heathfield; Coylton; Dalmilling; Belmont; Alloway and Doonfoot; Ayr North Harbour, Wallacetown and Newton South; Prestwick East (56.9).

Not suppressed: Annbank, Mossblown and Tarbolton – the coalfields (360.3); Castlehill and Kincaidston (95.8); Lochside, Braehead and Whitletts (94.9); Muirhead (76.9); Carrick South (75.3); Troon (74.7); Ayr South Harbour and Town Centre (73.4); Newton North (71.9); Carrick North (64.9).
