It is reported that a pregnant woman had died as a result of Covid-19 in Northern Ireland.
The mother was admitted to hospital and passed away on Friday morning, UTV reports.
It is understood that the woman's child was successfully delivered before the mother sadly passed.
The woman's vaccination status is unknown at this stage.
Sinn Fein MP Michelle Gildernew took to Twitter to share the news and encourage others to get their coronavirus vaccinations.
Her post read: "Devastating news that a young mother has died of #COVID19 in one of our hospitals.
"The threat to life is real. For the love of God please get vaccinated against this deadly virus."
It comes after the news of the first serving Northern Irish prison officer to die from Covid-19.
The Director General of the Prison Service has led tributes to the officer from Maghaberry Prison, saying that he had cared deeply about the service and had worked tirelessly over the years to make it better and safer.
Writing to Prison staff this morning, Ronnie Armour said: "It was with a deep sense of sadness that I learned last night of the passing of one of our colleagues, after a short battle with Covid-19. He cared deeply about the Service and he worked tirelessly over the years to make things better and safer.
"On behalf of the Service I want to express our heartfelt sympathies to his family circle and to those colleagues who worked alongside him. Our Service is the poorer for his passing and the circumstances of his death make our loss all the more painful. He will be long remembered."
Friday marked the highest number of daily new cases of the virus in Northern Ireland since the start of the pandemic as 2,397 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hour reporting period.
