LUCKNOW: Following sustained decline in the number of daily and active cases of novel coronavirus in the state, the UP government on Tuesday relaxed the Covid-19 night curfew by another hour. With this, the public movement restrictions will remain effective from 11pm to 6am. Till now, the deadline was 10 pm.
Official orders were issued by the state home department after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials in this regard during the daily Covid-19 review.
As many as 22 new cases were reported across the state in the past 24 hours. Also, the number of active cases has come down to just 227.
The CM, however, insisted that while easing the restriction was necessary to ensure that livelihood of people doesn’t suffer, caution against the pandemic virus should not be dropped so that no life is lost to the anticipated third wave.
“It is important to save lives and livelihood for which prevention and vaccination remain crucial to the strategy. Field staff must ensure that all shops, markets and public places are shut down by 11 pm and that no individual must roam unnecessarily on the streets,” he said.
Stating that UP has been maintaining control over the Covid situation fairly well, he added: “We are way better than other states, but we must not let our guard down. Everyone must follow Covid-19 appropriate behaviour, ensure usage of masks and social distancing.”
Meanwhile, the bulletin indicated that 27 districts are free from any active case of the pandemic. Prayagraj accounts for a maximum of 24 active cases followed by Gautam Budh Nagar where 21 active cases are being monitored. Lucknow (19), Jalaun (15) Barabanki (10) and Mainpuri (10) are the other districts with double digit entries in active cases.
