Covid NI: Two further coronavirus related deaths and 159 cases recorded by DoH

The Department of Health has today reported two further coronavirus related deaths.

According to the latest update from the Department, both deaths occurred within the current reporting period.

The death toll in Northern Ireland now stands at 2,132, said the DoH.

Thursday's dashboard also reports a further 159 positive cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of positive cases to 118,732 since the start of the pandemic.

Over the past seven days, the Department said 833 individuals have tested positive in Northern Ireland.

There are currently 76 Covid-19 confirmed patients in hospital and 8 in intensive care.

Meanwhile, a number of key dates for the reopening of services across Northern Ireland are expected to be announced by the Northern Ireland Executive this afternoon.

Hairdressers and other close-contact services and outdoor attractions may be allowed to reopen from April 23, according to a number of reports.

The Stormont Executive has not yet confirmed the agreed dates but is expected to do so this afternoon.

According to reports, from April 30, all retail and self-contained tourist accommodation may be given the green light for opening doors again.

May 10 is the expected date for reopening for outdoor hospitality and individual training in gyms.

Weddings and funerals with up to 30 people may be allowed from May 14.

Indoor hospitality, remaining tourist accommodation, indoor visitor attractions and meeting indoors in private dwellings are not expected to be given the green light before June 1, but talks are ongoing following frustration from the industry.
