Covid NI: Total of 240 people test positive in past 24 hours

A further two deaths linked to coronavirus have been reported by the Department of Health.

Tuesday's dashboard shows that these deaths occurred within the last 24-hour reporting period.

The coronavirus death toll in Northern Ireland currently stands at 2,079, the DoH says.

And over the last 24 hours, 240 individuals have tested positive for the virus.

The Department also reports a rise in positive cases of Covid-19 over the last seven days by 1,269.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there has been a total of 114,029 individuals who have tested positive.

Department of Health figures also show that there are 32 patients with confirmed Covid-19 in ICU and 222 coronavirus inpatients.

Meanwhile, Education Minister, Peter Weir today announced an additional £11.8million funding to support childcare providers.

This is the second phase of the Covid-19 Childcare Sustainability Support and is for the period of 1 January to March 31, 2021.

The Covid-19 Childcare Sustainability Support Fund will provide vital financial support for eligible registered childcare providers who are continuing to operate at this challenging time.
