Covid NI: Three further deaths and over 1,450 cases reported

A further 1,473 positive Covid cases have been recorded in Northern Ireland on Tuesday.

This brings the total number of positive cases to 151,096 since the start of the pandemic, according to the Department of Health.

Three further coronavirus-related deaths have been reported, with the death toll from the DoH now standing at 2,173.

The fatalities are not recorded to have occurred during the current reporting period.

Over the past seven days, the Department said 9,078 individuals have tested positive in Northern Ireland.

According to figures released on Tuesday, there are currently 243 Covid-19 confirmed patients in hospital and 29 in intensive care.

Meanwhile, A three week old baby in the Northern Ireland has been diagnosed with Covid.

The tot is in ICU with coronavirus, it has been confirmed.

Stephen Nolan said: "A three-week-old baby is in intensive care in Northern Ireland with Covid."

A number of hospitals in Northern Ireland are struggling to cope with a surge in Covid-19 admissions, and the Belfast Trust has said that 60% of people admitted to hospitals in its area have not been vaccinated.
