Covid NI: Six further deaths and over 1,300 positive cases reported

Six further coronavirus-related death has been reported in Northern Ireland on Thursday.

The death toll from the Department of Health now stands at 2,606.

Five fatalities are said to have occurred during the current reporting period, and one outside of it.

A further 1,304 positive Covid cases have also been recorded in NI today.

This brings the total number of positive cases to 254,983 since the start of the pandemic, according to the Department of Health.

Over the past seven days, the Department said 8,996 individuals have tested positive in Northern Ireland.

According to figures released on Thursday, there are currently 345 Covid-19 confirmed patients in hospital and 38 in intensive care.

Meanwhile, a number of relaxations to coronavirus restrictions have taken effect in NI.

From today, the decision made by the Stormont Executive means 30 people from an unlimited number of households will be able to meet indoors at a private home.

This means the previous 15 person cap on gatherings in private homes has now been lifted.

Additionally, audiences at indoor venues will no longer have to stay seated during performances from today.

Large house parties and raves remain banned, and face masks are still mandatory in some settings, including shops and public transport - unless a person is exempt.
