Meanwhile, Storm Franklin continued to lash the UK with gale-force winds and rain on Monday.

It is the third storm to pass over the island in recent days, after Storm Dudley and Storm Eunice wreaked havoc.

This latest storm brought coastal flooding and fallen trees to parts of the island once again, with the north and north-west worst affected.

Multiple power cuts have been reported across the country, according to data from the Northern Ireland Electricity Network.

Thousands of people have been affected, with one outage in County Fermanagh cutting power to more than 2,000 homes.
