Covid NI: One further coronavirus related death and drop in cases recorded by DoH

The Department of Health has today reported one further coronavirus related death.

The death is reported to have occurred within the current reporting period.

According to the latest update from the Department, the death toll now stands at 2,147.

Friday's dashboard also reports a further 65 positive cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of positive cases to 120,767 since the start of the pandemic.

Over the past seven days, the Department said 599 individuals have tested positive in Northern Ireland.

There are currently 62 Covid-19 confirmed patients in hospital and six in intensive care.

Meanwhile, the world’s largest cargo plane has left Belfast flying three 18-tonne oxygen generators and 1,000 ventilators to India.

This is part of the UK’s latest response to India’s Covid-19 crisis. Staff at Belfast International Airport worked through the night to load 60 tonnes of life-saving kit aboard the massive Antonov 124 aircraft.

Each of the three oxygen generation units – housed in 40ft freight containers – are able to produce 500 litres of oxygen per minute, enough to treat 50 people at a time on ventilators.
