Covid NI: One further coronavirus related death and 119 cases recorded by DoH

The Department of Health has today reported one further coronavirus related death.

According to the latest update, the death occurred within the current reporting period.

The death toll in Northern Ireland now stands at 2,133, said the DoH.

Friday's dashboard also reports a further 119 positive cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of positive cases to 118,851 since the start of the pandemic.

Over the past seven days, the Department said 824 individuals have tested positive in Northern Ireland.

There are currently 69 Covid-19 confirmed patients in hospital and 9 in intensive care.

Yesterday, the Stormont Executive agreed to a number of lockdown relaxations.

Speaking to the Assembly, First Minister Arlene Foster described it as "a landmark day" as she outlined the relaxations to the Chamber.

Mrs Foster added: "We have looked at the different risks and different settings. We have received advice from our Chief Medical Officer and remain grateful to them as ever.

"Our decisions today are aimed at lifting restrictions where we can. We know it will be disappointing to some. We remain driven by data and not dates. Steps will be kept under review."
