Covid NI: No further coronavirus related deaths and less than 60 cases recorded by DoH

The Department of Health has today reported no further coronavirus related deaths.

According to the latest update, the death toll from the DoH stands at 2,153.

Tuesday's dashboard also reports a further 54 positive cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of positive cases to 122,731 since the start of the pandemic.

Over the past seven days, the Department said 460 individuals have tested positive in Northern Ireland.

There are currently 20 Covid-19 confirmed patients in hospital and two in intensive care.

Meanwhile, army medics administered an estimated 100,000 doses of coronavirus vaccine in Northern Ireland, the Ministry of Defence has revealed.

Some 100 combat medical technicians (CMTs) worked at the vaccination centre at the SSE Arena in Belfast in recent months, PA report.

As the men and women prepared to leave at the weekend, Health Minister Robin Swann sent a video message of thanks for their work.

"You have been a welcome addition and provided much-needed relief and support at a time when our workforce faced huge challenges," he said.

"Before you leave I want to put on record our thanks and my thanks for your efforts in supporting Northern Ireland's response to Covid-19 and the help that you have supplied by doing what you have done, so thank you."
