Covid NI: No further coronavirus related deaths and 99 cases recorded by DoH

The Department of Health has today reported no further coronavirus related deaths.

According to the latest update from the Department, the death toll stands at 2,146.

Wednesday's dashboard also reports a further 99 positive cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of positive cases to 120,600 since the start of the pandemic.

Over the past seven days, the Department said 624 individuals have tested positive in Northern Ireland.

There are currently 72 Covid-19 confirmed patients in hospital and seven in intensive care.

Meanwhile, there are no plans to remove the one-metre plus social distancing rule in Northern Ireland says the Deputy First Minister.

Earlier this week, Prime Minister Boris Johnson indicated the rule in Britain could be ditched next month but the final decision on whether the change can be brought in from June 21 will depend on the data.

Michelle O’Neill said there have been no discussions in the NI Executive for a similar move, however she said the conversation will be had “in due course”.

More eases to restrictions this week include changes to visiting arrangements for hospitals and care homes.

Coming into effect on Friday, care home visits will increase from one to two a week and hospital patients will be allowed to have one daily visit from two people from up to two households.
