Covid NI: No further coronavirus related deaths and 96 cases recorded by DoH

The Department of Health has today reported no further coronavirus related deaths.

The number of people who have died after testing positive for Covid-19 in Northern Ireland stands at 2,149, says the Department.

Friday's dashboard also reports a further 96 positive cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of positive cases to 121,419 since the start of the pandemic.

Over the past seven days, the Department said 676 individuals have tested positive in Northern Ireland.

There are currently 39 Covid-19 confirmed patients in hospital and three in intensive care.

Meanwhile, the NI Executive has agreed a set of new regulations that will come into force from May 24.

The Stormont Executive has agreed to allow spectators to attend the Irish Cup final as a test event for emerging out of lockdown.

1,000 spectators will be permitted at the Irish Cup final at Mourneview Park in Lurgan on May 21.

Stormont ministers met on Thursday for over 4-hours to discuss further relaxations to the coronavirus regulations.

The Executive said it was thanks to the efforts of the public and the continued success of our vaccination programme that the decisions had been taken.

Ministers were also told that data around Covid-19 continues to have a “generally positive direction of travel”.
