Covid NI: No further coronavirus related deaths and 83 new cases recorded by DoH

No further coronavirus related deaths have been reported by the Department of Health today.

According to the DoH's latest update, the death toll from coronavirus in Northern Ireland remains at 2,146.

Tuesday's dashboard, which has not been updated since April 30, also reports a further 83 positive cases of Covid-19 since yesterday, bringing the total number of positive cases to 120,501 since the start of the pandemic.

They also announced that a total of 1,381,581 vaccines have been administered in Northern Ireland to date.

Over the past seven days, the Department said 632 individuals have tested positive.

There are currently 62 Covid-19 confirmed in-patients in hospital and seven in intensive care.

Earlier today, Health Minister Robin Swann announced plans to support and develop Northern Ireland's social care workforce by establishing a Social Care Fair Work Forum.

Mr Swann said: “I have repeatedly made clear my determination to improve social care in Northern Ireland through investment and reform. I very much hope this new Forum will help achieve this goal for this important workforce.

“The importance of social care was very much underlined during the pandemic, with care homes at the forefront of the battle against COVID-19 and domiciliary care services providing a vital lifeline for vulnerable people living in their own homes.

“There can be no denying that many social care services are fragile, not least because we need to build up and support the workforce.”
