Covid NI: No further coronavirus related deaths and 113 cases recorded by DoH

The Department of Health has today reported no further coronavirus related deaths.

The death toll in Northern Ireland stands at 2,148, says the Department.

Wednesday's dashboard also reports a further 113 positive cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of positive cases to 121,224 since the start of the pandemic.

Over the past seven days, the Department said 644 individuals have tested positive in Northern Ireland.

There are currently 50 Covid-19 confirmed patients in hospital and four in intensive care.

Meanwhile, The NI Executive is set to consider coronavirus regulations around international travel when it meets on Thursday, First Minister Arlene Foster has confirmed.

She said it would be "absolutely wrong" to prejudge what ministers will decide but that it is "safe to say we will be discussing international travel", PA reports.

The Executive is due to meet again tomorrow, May 13 to discuss other possible dates for the easing of further restrictions across Northern Ireland.

Asked whether ministers will discuss when hugging will be allowed again, Ms Foster said the Executive has noted developments in the rest of the UK after Prime Minister Boris Johnson said people in England would be able to hug each other "with caution" from May 17.
