Covid NI: Four further deaths recorded by Department of Health

There have been four further Covid-19 related deaths according to the Department of Health.

The department's daily dashboard says that the deaths have all taken place within the past 24 hours, when there was also 187 new cases recorded.

The death toll from coronavirus in Northern Ireland now stands at 2,036.

The Belfast area has seen the highest number of new cases in the past 24 hours with 42, followed by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon with 26 and Lisburn and Castlereagh with 20.

In the past week Belfast has also had the highest number of new cases with 453, followed by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon with 339 and Mid Ulster with 266.

In the past seven days 2,079 people have contracted the virus.

There are 386 inpatients in hospital with Covid-19, with 337 being admitted in the past 14 days. During the same period 613 patients have been discharged.

The Southern Trust has 142 patients, Belfast 91, Northern 68, South Eastern 44 and Western 41.

There are 51 patients in intensive care with Covid-19, with 41 of these using ventilators.

Northern Irish Hospitals are currently at 94 per cent bed occupancy with 169 unoccupied beds.

To date, 111,166 individuals have tested positive for the virus.
