Covid NI: Fewer than 150 new coronavirus cases recorded in past 24 hours

There have been two further Covid-19 related deaths, according to the Department of Health.

The department's daily dashboard says there have been two deaths recorded in the past 24 hours, bringing the Northern Ireland death toll from coronavirus to 2,059.

There have also been 149 further positive cases of the virus recorded in the past day and 1,440 in the past seven days.

Belfast has seen the largest increase in infections in the past 24 hours with 30, followed by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon with 28 and Mid Ulster with 14.

In the past week, Belfast has also had the highest number of cases with 317, followed by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon with 201 and Mid Ulster with 142.

Mid Ulster has the highest infection rate in the country at 96.3 per 100,000 people.

There are currently 289 inpatients in hospital with the virus, with 267 being admitted in the past 14 days. During the same period 500 patients have been discharged.

A total of 34 patients are in intensive care with Covid-19 and 30 of these are using ventilators.

In Northern Ireland care homes there are 25 confirmed active Covid-19 outbreaks.

To date, 112,780 individuals have tested positive for the virus.
