Covid NI: Eleven further deaths and 1,345 positive cases reported

Eleven further coronavirus-related deaths have been reported in Northern Ireland on Wednesday.

The death toll from the Department of Health now stands at 2,269.

Ten of the fatalities are said to have occurred during the current reporting period, and one outside of it.

A further 1,345 positive Covid cases have also been recorded in NI today.

This brings the total number of positive cases to 179,812 since the start of the pandemic, according to the Department of Health.

Over the past seven days, the Department said 9,974 individuals have tested positive in Northern Ireland.

According to figures released on Wednesday, there are currently 394 Covid-19 confirmed patients in hospital and 49 in intensive care.

Meanwhile, from August 9-15, fifteen postcodes across the region recorded more than 200 new Covid-19 cases.

The 10 postcodes hardest hit by new cases this week are:

  • BT48 - Ballymagrorty - 573 cases
  • BT47 - Dungiven - 376 cases
  • BT34 - Warrenpoint - 273 cases
  • BT17 - Hannahstown - 254 cases
  • BT71 - Coalisland - 252
  • BT12 - Falls Road - 241 cases
  • BT35 - Bessbrook - 241 cases
  • BT41 - Randalstown - 236 cases
  • BT14 - Ligoniel - 230 cases
  • BT23 - Comber - 223 cases
