Covid latest: Public Health Scotland infection rate data for every council area

Clackmannanshire has the highest seven-day Covid infection rate in Scotland as a further 691 new cases of the disease were confirmed nationally.

Data has been published by the Scottish Government this afternoon as part of its national COVID-19 daily briefing.

And the figures have been produced following yesterday's statement from First Minister Nicola Sturgeon where she eased some lockdown restrictions.

In terms of Public Health Scotland's rolling seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population, Clackmannanshire's had increased to 166.9 as of Tuesday, March 9.

The second-highest is now Stirling which has a rate of 125.3 with Falkirk (120.6) third-highest. The rate for Scotland is 63.8 and the full list of all councils is just below.

Locally, North Ayrshire stood at 86.8. In East Ayrshire, it was 59.0 while it was 30.2 in South Ayrshire.

There have been another 20 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, including four people from the NHS Ayrshire & Arran health board area, which means 7,461 people have passed away since March 2020.

However, data from the National Records of Scotland (NRS) shows 9,725 deaths had been registered up to Sunday, March 7 where the disease was mentioned on the death certificate.

Across the UK, the figure is 124,797 as of last night.

The number of positive coronavirus cases recorded by NHS Ayrshire & Arran has increased by 83 to 15,707.

There are fewer than five within the health board's region, in intensive care with confirmed COVID-19 which is the same as yesterday.

In addition, the number of people in hospital with confirmed coronavirus at midnight was 66 which is down three on yesterday.

A total of 207,156 positive tests have been recorded since the end of February from 1.724 million tests carried out.

Across Scotland, as of 8.30am this morning, a total of 1,809,158 people had received the first dose of their Covid vaccine with 132,760 having received their second dose.
