There have been 3,024 further cases of Covid-19 confirmed in Ireland this evening by the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET).
The Department of Health says there are now 458 people in hospital, with 90 of those in ICU.
It comes after the Dail passed a motion on Wednesday to extend emergency Covid rules until February 9, 2022.
This means public health measures such as mask-wearing and Covid certs will not be removed until February when the possibility will be reconsidered.
However, Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said on Wednesday that NPHET is not considering additional public measures at this time, and a further lockdown is not currently being discussed.
Dr Holohan encouraged people to be mindful of their movements in the days after attending larger social gatherings.
He said: "If you socialise, be mindful of your contacts in the days after, especially consider anyone you may meet who may be immunocompromised or vulnerable to Covid-19.
"If you experience symptoms, isolate immediately and arrange a PCR test. Do not go to school, college or socialise until you receive a negative result."
Tanaiste Leo Varadkar also ruled out reimposing Covid-19 restrictions stating case numbers alone would not force the Government to row back on our freedoms.
He said Covid-19 infection rates are “a matter of concern” but said that any reversal of the reopening would be informed by other factors including hospitalisations and people in ICU, which he described as “stable.”
