There have been 2,855 further cases of Covid-19 confirmed in Ireland this evening by the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET).
The Department of Health says there are now 515 people in hospital, with 91 of those in ICU.
It comes as the CEO of the HSE urged people to avail of their coronavirus vaccine as "it's never too late".
Paul Reid said on Twitter: "Positively, we continue to see a steady number of people come forward for vaccination.
"Over the past 6 days almost 15,000 people have come to a Vaccination Centre via an appointment or walk in. Almost 7,000 via walk in. Avg 1,800 registering per day.
"It's never too late."
Meanwhile, the HSE will start the rollout of booster Covid vaccines for those aged 60 and over this week.
The National Immunisation Advisory Committee will also be discussing the booster vaccines for healthcare workers after calls from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.
Hundreds of healthcare workers are infected with Covid each week as studies suggest jabs wane in effectiveness after six months.
Most healthcare workers were vaccinated up to ten months ago and are more susceptible to infection now.
Speaking on RTÉ's Today with Claire Byrne this morning, Phil Ni Sheaghdha, the General Secretary of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation said it is clear that the waning effect of the vaccine is impacting on healthcare staff.
She said that if booster shots are not provided to frontline healthcare staff, further closure of wards can be expected as well as cancellation of elective surgeries.
